Is Fear Making You Mad?

Much of the anger we see displayed in our social and mainstream
media seems to be rooted in fear. 1 John 4 shows us a better way. We
can put away mistrust and fear by believing that God who created us
is still in control of every situation.

Looking for Hope? Try Faith

Heb 11 describes faith as a way to make the intangible things of God
accessible to us. While misplaced faith is a dangerous thing
that can be used to manipulate us, we should consider the strength
of character we can access through a true faith in good things of God.

What are your nettles?

Our sins often make it hard for us to see the good
things God has provided for us. Hebrews 11:1
gives us a way to see past our sin and into the
provisions God has for us.

Maybe it's time to try something different?

We often seek meaning or purpose to life by
owning things, or by being popular. Psalm 73 gives
us an alternative view to finding meaning in life. If
you find that your life is not fulfilling, maybe
you should try looking elsewhere for meaning.

Step Right Up

The Psalmist writes of being confused in Psalm 73. He sees people
making decisions as if God doesn't care and isn't watching. Their
God-ignoring decisions eventually cause them problems, but it takes
a long time for the judgement to manifest. When we decide to hate
and seek our own good at the expense of others, we to are acting
as though God doesn't care.

Compassion in Crisis

How should we respond to a tragic crisis? Does our first impulse match with
the actions of the good Samaritan? In the parable, Jesus describes a man
who should have been an enemy demonstrates great compassion and care.
We are all broken people in a broken world - may we find the strength to
follow the teaching of Christ and show compassion to each other.

Is this person made in God's image?

When you look at someone else, no matter how different that person may be -
do you see the image of God, or do you see the sin that infests our world? We all
sin, but we also bear the image of God (Gen 1:27) and for that reason we should extend love and help
to each other whenever possible. The gospel shines best in our deeds.

Welcome

Each of the cartoons on this site is an expression of a sermon I heard in church. As a cartoonist, my method of understanding complex theological topics is to boil them down to simple images.

These images will never do justice to the sermons from which they are derived, but hopefully, they convey at least one aspect of those sermons to you, the reader.

I hope that you gain some benefit from the cartoons and will reuse them in ways that honor Christ.
