Pushy Jesus!

Jesus pushed past “eye for an eye” and called His followers to love their enemies by refusing revenge. Violence may be the world’s cycle (Matt 5:37-42)—but it doesn’t have to be ours. How can you choose the harder love that breaks the pattern?

 The apostle Paul invites us to step back from our selfish and hypocritical ways and enjoy each other with love and respect (Romans 12). Who do you find hard to love? How do you step back from yourself and love them as Christ loved you?

 Jesus promises that those who believe in Him will carry His Spirit like streams of living water (John 7:37-40). When people meet us, do they taste that refreshment or something far less life‑giving. Some days we overflow; other days it feels like the tide has slipped away. Yet the comfort remains—His Spirit never leaves, even when our hearts feel dry.

Why Did You Leave the Boat?

 Peter steps into danger alone and sinks (Matt 14); faith grows stronger when shared. Community steadies you, lifts you, and helps you walk where you couldn’t alone. Faith deepens not by isolation but by Christians holding one another up in the storm.

Are You Resisting Your Newness?

Jacob wrestled with God until he became a new man (Gen 32). While the wrestling in Genesis was physical, we might resist God in our spirit or will. How are you resisting God's call to be someone new?

The Weed-Puller

he parable of the tares in Matthew 13 isn’t really asking, “Am I a weed?” It’s asking, “Who am I treating like one?” Jesus acknowledges evil, but He doesn’t tell us to start pulling people up. He tells us to trust God with the sorting and focus on growing faithfully ourselves.

Duck! The Sower is Coming!

While the parable of the Sower (Matt 13) describes the reasons people fail to fully embrace faith in Christ, it also leaves us wondering why God would distribute His Word and His Love so indiscriminately. Do you hold back charity, love, or even consideration for specific groups?
 

Worship and the country

When Jesus said to give our political state what it deserves (Luke 20:19-26), He made one thing unmistakably clear: it doesn’t deserve worship. Love of country becomes idolatry the moment we refuse to tell the truth about it—when we stop holding it accountable, stop demanding justice, stop expecting better. A nation we’re unwilling to correct is a nation we’ve quietly enthroned. And once we start bowing, we’re no longer loving our country… we’re worshiping it.

God’s people are often branded unpatriotic when they confront the sins of their nation, just as Amos was (Amos 7). Where have you risked your reputation or comfort to speak God’s truth, even when others accused you of betraying your homeland?

 Jesus saw hunger as pain and moved toward it (Mark 15). His disciples saw hunger as someone else’s problem. The difference is compassion. When you see pain, do you move toward it with relief or step back and hope someone else will?

Which Jesus?

In Matthew 28, they worshipped—but some still doubted. Maybe they bowed to the Jesus they imagined, not the One who stood before them. Are we doing the same?
